Classes for the Dorm in 3/2016 thru 2/2017:
Experiencing God: (23 weeks) God is always at work around you. God pursues a continuing love relationship with you that is real and personal. God invites you to become involved with Him in His work. God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways. God's invitation for you to work with Him always leads you to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action. You must make major adjustments in your life to join God in what He is doing. You come to know God by experience as you obey Him and He accomplishes His work through you. Men Stepping Up; Calling Men to Courageous Manhood: (12 weeks) Today, more than ever, the world needs godly men. Men who will step up and courageously lead at home, at church, at work, and in their communities. That’s the message of Stepping Up. In a world where too many men are shrinking back, Stepping Up gives men vision and tools to live godly courageous lives. Ten-week, small-group study for men dives deep into life-changing biblical content to show what it means to live godly, courageous lives. The Voyager Program was designed by the TDCJ ID-Dept. to help offenders explore personal, spiritual, and interpersonal growth issues utilizing a workbook and group dynamics under the guidance of a facilitator. The Quest for Authentic Manhood: (25 weeks) Is the original curriculum in the Men’s Fraternity series. A captivating journey composed of 24 sessions. This series helps men understand their masculine identity and shows them how to make the pursuit of authentic manhood a lifelong priority that is incorporated into the fabric of their everyday lives. It offers a clear definition of what a man is and challenges each man to develop his own personalized manhood plan Is for any Christian struggling with any measure of persistent compulsive preoccupation toward sexual immorality, equipping you with sensible, useable biblical appli-cations for empowerment over sexual addiction. EXIT RAMP was written from his regrettable experiences with an unchallenged addiction to sexual immorality and subsequent felony convictions. The book culminates with Johns inspiring recovery from addiction through a penitent heart, useable biblical life applications, and the power of Gods Holy Spirit. Mind of Christ: (24 weeks) The Mind of Christ - by T.W. Hunt is a in-depth discipleship study that introduces believers to a lifelong process through which God will renew their minds and their lives to reflect the image of Christ. Based on Philippians 2:5: "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus," the study shows you how Jesus' mind worked and how the Holy Spirit can teach you to think as He did. Stand In Love: (11 weeks) Truthful Answers to Questions About Homosexuality, Identity, and the Church. It is difficult for Christians to know how to respond to homosexuality in today's culture. Some believers argue the truth while others remain silent to avoid offending. How can we lovingly, yet truthfully, respond? Dennis Jernigan offers advice from a perspective the world says isn't possible, as one who turned from homosexuality to find freedom in Christ. With truth, grace, and wisdom, Dennis tackles such questions as: ◦Does God call homosexual behavior sin? ◦Do homosexuals go to hell? ◦Does orientation equal identity? ◦How do I love without judgment or condemnation? We offer the men an opportunity to attend a Bible Study on Friday Mornings called "Books of the Bible". And they also attempt to attend church services on Saturday and Sunday. The men also since they are trying to enrich their lives by walking closer with God are either already part of the weekly continuing Kairos Ministry at the unit or will attend a Kairos Short Course in Chrisitanity sometime during the year. The ones that have attended already participate in weekly accountability grouping on Tuesday nights called Kairos Prayer & Share. Many of the men are also part of the Shalom Bible Studies Seminary, AA, NA and other programs that are available thru the Chaplaincy Dept. We are also attempting to schedule a prison first event, "BSF" (Bible Study Fellowship) for this year.
